Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She is the author of fifteen books and is the cofounder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is an writer, journalist, TV host, and owner of The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was Greece she moved to England when she was sixteen and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. As the first foreign student to hold the position of president in the prestigious debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took on the role. She was a conservative syndicated writer after her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a year after, she created an online voice platform which offered critiques of politics. Her fame has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna rose to fame when she made the decision to stand as an independent candidate in the California recall vote to succeed then Governor Davis. She was also involved in the Detroit-based initiative that advocated for cars that are fuel efficient. Forbes named her as one of the "most important woman" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 most influential media people in 2009. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she became president of this media group. This included many AOL properties of the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli is the daughter of Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, and Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who both are journalist and management consultants. Although she had a close relationship to her father, her connection to her mom was the defining factor in the rest of her life. She was a leader throughout her childhood. She moved to England at sixteen to further her studies and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. While in college she was a member of the college debate Society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. She graduated in 1972 with a Masters in Economics. In the years following the graduation ceremony, she worked as a journalist and TV host. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
