Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She is the author of fifteen books, and she is co-founder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is an writer, philanthropist and television host, and owner of The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece she moved to England when she was 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. When she graduated, she made her mark as a conservative syndicated columnist as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice portal which provided critical views on the political scenario. Her celebrity status helped her in getting several high-profile contributors to share their opinions on news, politics, and other topics. Arianna's celebrity status began in 2003, when she was a candidate for an independent for the California recall election to succeed then-Governor Davis. Alongside this, she directed an Detroit project that promoted the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes declared her to be the "most powerful women" in the media industry, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and she was named the president of this group. It included a variety of AOL products at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. They were very close to her father. However, it was her bond with her mother that has shaped her. Even during her formative times, she demonstrated the qualities of a leader for which her name is still well-known. At the age of sixteen, she left America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In her college years, she belonged to the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first female president and sole foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with an advanced degree in Economics. In the years following her degree, she was a columnist-critic as well as a TV host. In addition, along with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
