Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. The name of her parents was derived from the town she grew up in. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her along with their children into Mendocino County California when Ryder was seven years old. In those days, there were no electric lights. Ryder who was an avid reader at the age of 12 years old, became a reader due to the fact that Ryder had no access to television. Ryder started to take acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12. At the age of fifteen, she landed her first acting job on screen, in Lucas. Ryder was bullied in high school. Her hope was that acting might change the situation. It didn't turn out. However, she continued to pursue her goals. In 1988, she got her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was able to continue her successful parts in a variety of films. He was nominated for two Academy Awards were nominated, one of which was for The Age of Innocence (1996).
